Among these performances are, “The Egg” for which performers collaboratively explore the fragile relationship between the self and the others as well as the state of a body that does not destroy what is precious based on the rule: to lodge the raw egg, a symbol for life, between the dents of the bodies and to move so as not to drop it; and “Eggsercise” where the performer alone spends time trying not to drop the egg by holding it between the body and objects like walls, glass, or plants.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e“I want to untangle ‘me’, the shell that has hardened as I live on my life. […] Bound by the egg, when we move within the small gaps, will we be able to accept one another without mistaking what is precious?” To poetically depict this emotion poured into the ephemeral and traceless performances in the form of a book, this volume is composed so the photographs and stills from video archives of the performances, installations, paintings, along with notes and drawings related to his works all fluently connect and resonate with each other. She had thus experienced the connection to this planet she had never felt before. Iceland was her point of departure; she continued to experience similar sights such as the nature around her home after the COVID-19 pandemic and the winter land of Hokkaido. She opened her majestic solo exhibition “M\/E On this sphere Endlessly interlinking” and showcased a fraction of the “M\/E” series. Even today, this body of work is been exhibited around the world. 　\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe title “M\/E” comes from the first letters of the words “Mother” and “Earth”, “Mother Earth” if read in sequence, and also hints at the word “Me”. It reminds us of the certainty that nature as an infinite existence and the small ubiquitous occurrences from our daily lives are not unrelated, but inseparably connected. As the most recent body of work by Kawauchi who returned to her point of origin –the connection between nature and human beings– and thus took a different look at the world during this turbulent time, this series goes beyond “Ametsuchi” and “Halo” through which she had established her perspective by contemplating nature. Bound by Hans Gremmen, the book appears to be a singular book object. In this show with six artists and one architect duo, the love for what we feel is familiar and the existences overlooked in society emerge not only in the simple representation of cats but also in the questioning of the ubiquitous.
