本書は、2024年にパリ・ピカソ美術館で開催された大規模個展に合わせて刊行された、「未完のプロジェクト」を包括的にまとめたカタログ・レゾネ。本作で公開されたのは、ソフィ・カル自身が「失敗」と見なしてきた未完のアイデアや作品です。ここでは、自分の葬儀のリハーサルやある小説の出版計画など、完成へと至らなかったこれらのアイデアに、「LOSS OF INTEREST（興味の喪失）」「LACK OF CONVICTION（確信の欠如）」「DIFFERENCE OF OPINION（意見の相違）」など、ソフィ・カルらしい短くも皮肉でおかしみを含む「未完に終わった理由」が赤いスタンプで刻印されています。数十年にわたる制作活動の奥行きを明らかにしながら、ソフィ・カルの作品を想起させる住所録のようなブックデザインも美しい一冊。

An artist’s book by Sophie Calle. Published to coincide with her major 2024 solo exhibition at the Musée Picasso (Musée Picasso) in Paris, this is a catalogue raisonné dedicated to "unfinished projects". The volume brings to light ideas and works that Calle herself considers to be "failures". Ranging from the rehearsal of her own funeral to the planned publication of a novel, these unrealised concepts are marked with red stamps detailing the reasons for their incompletion—such as ‘LACK OF CONVICTION’ or ‘DIFFERENCE OF OPINION’—capturing Calle’s signature pithy, ironic, and humorous tone. Whilst revealing the hidden depths of a practice spanning several decades, the publication is also a beautifully designed object, reminiscent of an address book—a motif frequently revisited in her oeuvre.
