As after Sa-lanlan by Kotori Kawashima, this volume compiles photographs taken during his return to South Korea, the setting of the original work. Titled P・R・E・S・E・N・T, this new publication coincides with an exhibition of the same name, positioned as an after-story to Saranran. It captures quiet landscapes that resemble the mental sceneries lingering after a narrative has fully concluded.
On deep indigo paper, a silver underlayer is meticulously applied; on black paper infused with microscopic glass flakes, a double-strike of white ink serves as the base before the photographs are printed over them. This complex process generates microscopic contrasts and rhythms through varying levels of brightness and gloss. The result is a publication that maintains a minimal physical presence while achieving a remarkably ethereal and delicate resonance. Designed by Natsuko Yoneyama.
