旧ユーゴスラビア出身のパフォーマンスアーティスト、マリーナ・アブラモヴィッチとドイツ人アーティスト、ウレイ（Ulay）の作品集。二人は、愛と人間関係の極限を探る革新的なパフォーマンスを多数創作しました。裸の二人が1時間以上にわたり何度もぶつかり合い続けた「Relations in Space」（1976年）や、マリーナ・アブラモヴィッチの心臓にウレイが矢を向け、弓の緊張感が互いのバランスを取った「休息のエネルギー」（1980年）、1981年から1987年にかけて22回、7時間もの間、沈黙の中向かい合って座り続けた「Nightsea Crossing」（1981–1987年）、最後の作品となった「万里の長城を歩く」（1988年）まで、本書では1976年から1988年まで続いた二人の活動とその後の関係を振り返ります。
2010年にMoMAで開催されたアブラモヴィッチのパフォーマンス「作家は在廊中（The Artist is Present）」で感動的な再会を果たした二人は、2015年には作品権利を巡る法廷闘争を経て、ウレイの末期がんを機に再び対話を再開。その最後の対話は、ルイジアナ近代美術館（Louisiana Museum of Modern Art）による非営利ウェブサイト「ルイジアナ・チャンネル」に記録されています。
From 1976 to 1988, Marina Abramović and Ulay pushed the boundaries of human relationships and existence through groundbreaking performance art. Both lovers and collaborators, they explored themes of love and art, culminating in their final conversation 30 years later, as documented in No Predicted End. Their iconic works include Relations in Space (1976), where they collided repeatedly for over an hour; Rest Energy (1980), balancing a taut bow with an arrow pointed at Marina’s heart; and Nightsea Crossing (1981–1987), sitting in silent confrontation for seven-hour sessions over 22 performances. Their final work, The Great Wall Walk (1988), saw them traverse 4,000 kilometers of the Great Wall of China, meeting not to marry, as planned, but to part ways. Reunited in 2010 during The Artist is Present, they later faced a legal dispute in 2015. Their last meeting, prompted by Ulay’s terminal cancer, transcended past conflicts. This poignant conversation, published by Louisiana Channel in 2022, reflects on their shared artistic and personal journey.
