書体デザインを中心に、グラフィックやアニメーションなどを手がけるデザイナー、永尾仁の作品集。本作は、作者が新たに開発した2ウェイトの書体「ALIEN SPEECH」の書体見本です。

各文字が不均一な濃度とスケールを持つ実験的な書体「ALIEN SPEECH」。本書では、AからZまでのアルファベットがエイリアンという個別の生命体として描かれ、それらが群れを成して単語を形成する様子が、観察記録の体裁で綴られています。また、エイリアンが通う病院の薬袋や、生活の断片を記録したレシート、ポスター、小袋などのエフェメラが同封されており、その書体の背景を視覚的に見ることができます。冊子には、実際のフォントデータが同封されており、鑑賞者はこのフォントを自らのデスクトップにダウンロードし、使用することが可能です。

A type specimen for 2-weight typeface "ALIEN SPEECH" by Zin Nagao, a designer active in fields ranging from typeface design to graphics and animation. 

"ALIEN SPEECH" is an experimental typeface in which each character possesses a non-uniform density and scale. Within the book, the characters from A to Z are depicted as individual living entities—aliens—and their manner of forming colonies to create words is documented in the style of an observation log. Furthermore, the set includes various pieces of ephemera, such as medicine bags from an alien hospital, receipts recording fragments of daily life, posters, allowing the viewer to visually explore the narrative context behind the typeface. The publication also includes the actual font data, enabling the viewer to download and use the typeface on their own desktop.
