This monograph focuses on the collages of New York-based photographer and artist Peter Sutherland. Having continuously documented street culture—including skateboarding and graffiti—from the inside, the artist presents a body of collage work he has been developing privately and persistently for over a decade. By manually combining fragments of disparate times and spaces, such as urban billboards, vast natural landscapes, and portraits of people on the streets, these works function as a physical practice through which the artist directly engages with the contours of the world he inhabits.
The volume concludes with a text by Devrim Bayar, Senior Curator at KANAL-Centre Pompidou, a newly established contemporary art museum in Brussels, Belgium.
